what’s next

Mallory here with another brief update on Lindsey. We got to spend some time together this afternoon with Kate (her sister), Bev (her mother), and Carly (close friend, you’ve seen her here before) at a “Plan Lindsey’s Life Meeting” (a funny name for a brainstorming session on what help Lindsey could use in the coming weeks).

Providentially, right before the meeting, new information and more concrete plans in Lindsey’s treatment were made.

  • First, a little bit of catch up to today. On Friday, Lindsey got results from her MRI on her brain. It showed that there were new masses in the bone surrounding her brain. This revealed that Lindsey’s cancer is indeed progressing (not new news, but still disheartening news to get).

  • Today Lindsey and Jason met with the oncologist with the results from Lindsey’s blood biopsy from last week. From these results, the option for treatment moving forward is chemo. The targeted therapy Lindsey has had this year is no longer an option.

  • Lindsey will get her port for upcoming chemo treatment tomorrow. Pray for her at 9:15am when she goes in to have it placed.

  • While we were meeting today, Lindsey got a call that an opening for beginning chemo had become available on Wednesday! This was good news. So, Lindsey’s first chemo treatment will be Wednesday beginning at 8:15am. Pray for her on Wednesday as you think of her. She’s been told to be there at least 5-6 hours.

Remember Lindsey, Jason, Wright, Thomas, Henry, and Graham in your prayers.

We are in the process of creating some avenues for y’all to love on the Edwards family. I will communicate those as soon as we have them in place. In the meantime, please refrain from bombarding Lindsey and Jason with questions or ideas. But please do send them my way! I regularly check-in with the Edwards on their needs and can help facilitate care as needed.

Last thing: I have extended their meal plan for next week. Lindsey will still be recovering from her first round of chemo, so meals would be a big blessing to them.

  • Note that Lindsey is on a special diet. Please do NOT use the following in your cooking or takeout deliveries: canola oil, vegetable oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil, safflower oil.
